Doug has 28+ years of experience in project, portfolio, facility, sourcing, sustainability, and
change management in the pharmaceutical, specialty gas, and petrochemical industries.
His current role at Merck is enterprise focused and chartered with driving execution of many of
the company’s environmental sustainability goals. His team is focused on enabling execution of
the 2025 carbon neutrality goal for our sites and purchased electricity, as well as our public
waste and water goals. They are also facilitating the development of the company’s enterprise
2030 value chain strategy in collaboration with many internal and external partners.

Previously, he spent 10 years in Merck’s Global Procurement group focusing on category
sourcing of CapEx, Automation, and eventually energy and industrial gases. He co-led the
development of our Energy & Sustainability category management and corporate renewables
strategy. The team’s efforts have transformed the company’s electricity footprint through our
first utility scale renewable contract (2018) followed by 3 additional contracts in the US and
Spain- key elements enabling our carbon neutrality commitments.
